Whahhahahaha

The crisis is over.  Divine inspiration is now.
Whahahhahahahhahha.........
(more later)
One of Paul's complaints about my paintings was that they didn't fit into either a historical or contemporary genre/style of painting (or something to that effect).  Last night I made offerings (of muffins) to Sarasvati (goddess of the arts and learning) and Ganesh (god of removing obstacles) and then I kinda meditated.  And I was struck with inspiration.  I went through some of my own pics (that I have collected for research purposes) and found some online (complete with things like artist and date and where they are now type deal) and found Greek pottery, some ancient Japanese paintings (yamato-e I believe it was called), and even an Indian painting, for the most part extremely old (the Indian painting was like, 17th-18th century or somesuch), AND I also grabbed some nice modern art of the Jessica Galbreth/Amy Brown/Nene Thomas genre.  So that's historical and contemporary art, fantasy/mythological art (the Greek and the Japanese were of goddesses...go figure), AND all of these examples have "cartoony" figures in them (Paul complained my goddesses looked cartoony and were painted crudely).  So, um, isn't that part of the "problem", not really a problem at all??  Why not just look at it as a juxtaposition of historical styles (with the backgrounds being something along the lines of early impressionism)?  But all this preparation came to naught, for Paul who insisted that we were going to meet and discuss today, met all the painting 2 students, met with Brooke and critiqued in the critique room, talked to Christina (about painting 2, not painting 3 mind you), and then the other girl whose name I know not, and then went back to the critique room for some painting 2 person's artist presentation (I may or may not have been required to attend this, everyone else disappeared, Christina is in painting 2 and 3, but I don't know where Brooke went (if she watched or just took the distraction of Paul as an opportunity to wander off...I almost did), in any case I didn't go).  And then class was almost over, and mid-transit Paul seemed to notice my presence and asked me if I was doing all right....and I was like yes...and then he wandered off.  Wtf??  Maybe he meant next week.  Seems like a waste of class time though.  In any case, I have something of a defense for my paintings, though since he didn't tell me why they're not working I can't really contest that....in any case I'm still not changing them.  On Jessica Galbreth's website she has advice for aspiring artists.  It says that you should follow your dreams, and that it will be hard, but not to give up.  It seems like very good advice to me, and appropriate.
Also, the other day as I was walking across campus (either to or from the art building, I was definitely thinking about painting in any case) I saw a flier on the door of the P.O. for some speaker...in large letters it declared WELL BEHAVED WOMEN SELDOM MAKE HISTORY.  It's a saying I've heard many times before, but it felt like a sign.  Yeah, it's gonna suck. Paul's really not likely to be pleased in any way shape or form, and will probably continue to be antagonistic toward my art.  But I have to follow my heart and paint what I want, and it doesn't matter what he thinks about it.  (I mean it does, he's had years in the art business and is obviously not a complete idiot, but I think we have different ideas of what kind of art is good art, so I'm not going to stop painting goddesses just because he doesn't like them.)
